New York Konamon Festival
10 thousand people enjoyed Japanese Konamon! Otafuku Foods supported this event to contribute to the excitement.
The 3rd “New York Konamon Festival” (Japanese Flour Food Competition) was held from September 20 to 21, 2019. Japan Fes has been hosting this event since 2017, to spread Japanese Flour Food culture, such as Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba and Takoyaki in the U.S.
Otafuku Foods, the subsidiary Otafuku Sauce Co. and based in Los Angeles, has been supporting the exciting event since the beginning.
This year, 9 shops (5 shops from Japan, and 4 shops from the U.S.) joined the competition and provided Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba, Takoyaki and Monja-yaki.
About 10 thousand visitors enjoyed eating and voted for their favorite shops. Some of them had experience enjoying Konamon in Japan and seemed to be happy to eat them again in NY.
“Okonomiyaki Imari” from Tokyo provided Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki and won the championship.
A lot of people came to the event, and it seemed that Konamon are well-received there. Actually, the number of Okonomiyaki restaurants is increasing in NY and there are many shops offer Konamon as well. Okonomiyaki may become popular more and more!
